A passive “induction coil” circuit, engaged with a tap of the push-push knob, hides under the pickguard to reduce RF interference and high-gain noise while preserving the tone of the powerful P-90 pickup. The clever convertible bridge design gives players the choice between a tune-o-matic ABR-1, a wrap-tail bridge, and\/or a Vibrola tremolo – all available in the time it takes to change strings. The solid mahogany body is also slightly thicker than a normal SG, which Brian says “offers more low and mid-range punch to the overall tone of the guitar up and down the neck.” The finishing touches include sleek, pearlescent White Fox paint, a custom trapezoid inlay pattern and an ebony block tailpiece as seen on some original 1962 SG models. This exquisite instrument was tailor made to the specs of legendary musician Brian Ray, who also happens to be a longtime friend of Truetone.   \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBased on a Gibson SG from 1963, it features a stop tailpiece that can be converted to a Bigsby (included) without adding additional holes.  It's loaded with a pair of humbuckers, a '57 Classic Humbucker in the bridge and a Burstbucker 1 in the neck.   This one came to us already converted to the stop bar, so we left it like that, but the Bigsby is included in the case (the Vibramate makes it easy to go go back \u0026amp; forth).  You could put it on later - or if you want, we could do that here for you at no charge.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe mahogany body and neck give you a thick, resonant tone, with a fast playing rosewood fretboard that is in great condition. Speaking of necks, this is an  SG with such a comfortable feeling neck - we noticed that right away when it came in. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWith the '57 Classic Humbucker, you get warm, full, and fat tone. Stephen Stern crafted the body and top of this one from solid Korina, using a single-piece blank for the neck. The fingerboard features exquisite Brazilian rosewood.  All of the wood was responsibly and ethically sourced to guarantee superior quality and authenticity.  The white binding frames the body perfectly, and wood grain shows nicely through the Natural finish.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eThroBak SLE-101 pickups provide a totally different tone compared to most Gretsch guitars, as they are PAF style humbuckers.  This is the set that put ThroBak on the map - you get the complex tone and articulate clarity found in the best PAF pickups from the 50's.  According to ThroBak, A2 vintage clone sand cast magnets, custom milled Michigan hard maple wood spacer, vintage correct two conductor wire and a threaded baseplate complete the picture making these the best humbucker pickups with vintage specs.  We plugged the guitar, and had to agree.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eOther features include Grover tuners, an Adjust-O-Matic bridge, and a custom tailpiece.  All of the hardware was aged perfectly.  The way Stephen Stern did this one is rather mind-blowing.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eNow, on to the next part of the story: This particular guitar was owned and used by the extremely prolific musician Brian Ray, celebrated solo artist, guitarist for Paul McCartney, musical director for Etta James, and lead vocalist\/guitarist of the Bayonets.  He recently decided to part with a few select pieces - Truetone Music is quite proud to have partnered with him to bring them to the market for the first time,  With the guitar comes a signed Certificate of Authenticity.  And, by the way - this wasn't just a guitar he bought, strummed once and put it away.  It was actually used to record tracks on his new album!\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e \u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis Gretsch Custom Shop Masterbuilt G6199CS Caddy-Bo has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop, and has immediately become one of our favorite guitars here.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe guitar includes the original case, paperwork, a Gretsch Certificate of Authenticity signed by Stephen Stern, plus another Truetone Certificate signed by Brian Ray.   With Stern having retired in 2023, this G6199CS Caddy-Bo built in 2022 was amongst the last of his guitars at the tail end of a legendary career.  Not only is it an amazing playing and visually stunning guitar, but it's also truly collectible.  Very few were made, and there's only one previously owned by Brian Ray.  We don't expect it to last In addition, the Falcon also had tremolo and many vintage amp enthusiasts say the Gibson tremolo on the GA-19RVT is “what an amp tremolo should sound like”.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan data-sheets-root=\"1\"\u003eThis particular one was owned and used by the extremely prolific musician Brian Ray, celebrated solo artist, guitarist for Paul McCartney, musical director for Etta James, and lead vocalist\/guitarist of the Bayonets.  He recently decided to part with a few select pieces - Truetone Music is quite proud to have partnered with him to bring them to the market for the first time.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan data-sheets-root=\"1\"\u003eThe Falcon got 14 watts out of two 6V6 tubes (the same tubes used in the comparable Fender Deluxe), and had a Jensen 12\" speaker. The pre-amp was powered by three 6EU7 tubes, and a 7199 for the reverb circuit. It also has a 5V3GT rectifier tube in the V7 socket. Unlike Fender's later reverb amps (such as the Princeton Reverb), the Falcon had a fairly unusual placement of the reverb circuit: rather than being placed after the pre-amp section and having the wet signal mixed with the dry, the Falcon's reverb circuit taps the signal before the volume and tone control, and mixes it with the dry signal via independent volume controls.
