Instead of a boring tone control that just rolls off treble, the Dex-Tone control allows you to shape the character of the amp by adding gain and cutting low frequencies as you turn it up. This gives the Deluxe a tighter, more focused, more British tone and feel. At low volumes, the Dex-Tone control adds grit and texture, but at high volumes is where it really shines. Fender Tweed-style amps tend to get bass-heavy at high volumes and the result is a mushy, farty mess.
