Many players swear by the one-piece maple for its tone and stability, which is what makes 1958 such a sought-after year for the Strat. The ’58 Strat Relic is a nod to that year in all its glory, with several custom mods.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eA two-piece select alder body has the '57 style deep contours for ultimate comfort, while the resonant one-piece quartersawn maple neck has a comfortable 1954-style “soft V” profile, 9.5 fingerboard radius and 21 narrow tall (6105) frets.   Custom Shop hand-wound Fat ’50s pickups (with reverse-wound\/reverse polarity middle pickup) are connected to Vintage Modified #2 wiring with Tone-Saver bleed circuitry and five-way switching, creating a thick, balanced tone at any volume.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFor this one, we went with Super Faded Aged Surf Green - a truly classic Fender color that evokes memories of 50's car culture and beach vibes.  The \"Super Faded\" aspect tames it down a bit, and the \"Aged\" aspect softens the brightness, creating a cool, vintage feel.  We chose the Relic finish package, to add to the vintage look and feel.  Creating the authentic worn-in wear of a guitar that has experienced many years of use is not easy to achieve, but the masterfully skilled team at the Custom Shop nailed it.  We've had a lot of Relic's here over the years, and they just seem to be getting better and better.   We also requested for the finish to be worn off of the back of the neck, to give it a true \"broken in\" feel.  We tend to do this on most of our Custom Shop builds, and have found that players absolutely love it.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOther features include a single-ply eggshell pickguard, Custom Shop vintage synchronized tremolo, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut, and wing string tree.
