Here's something you don't see every day - a Fender Prodigy II, straight out of 1991.  Sure, that was the year of Nirvana's Nevermind and Pearl Jam's Ten, but it's also when the late 80's and early 90's "Superstrat" craze for guitarists was in full effect.  Fender's answer to this only lasted a few years, and the Prodigy II was the version built for players who make full use of the on the whammy bar.  You don't see many of these around, especially not as good as this one.

The American-made Prodigy II has a sharper, more offset take on the Strat body, a humbucker in the bridge and a double-locking tremolo, with black hardware.  It's definitely a classic, old school Strat - it's not meant to be.  It was aimed at more modern players that wanted something agressive that they could shred on.  Fender came at them with this, with features tailored to a more progressive style.

The bolt-on maple neck carries 22 frets on a 12" radius with a 25.5" scale, so it feels familiar to any Strat player but gives you two extra frets up top and allows you to bend without fretting out. The locking nut and double-locking tremolo let you dive and flutter the bar without knocking the guitar out of tune, which is exactly what these were made for.

The HSS layout covers a lot of ground. The bridge humbucker has the push for distorted rhythm parts and leads, while the two single coils and five-way switch give you the classic in-between Strat sounds for cleaner playing. Controls are kept simple with a master volume and master tone.

This Prodigy II is in good condition with a few dings and honest player wear but nothing extreme.  Overall it's pretty clean.  The original hardshell case is included, as is the booklet that came with it back in 1991.  Setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop, it's ready to go.
