That's the year that the first mammal (Dolly the sheep) was successfully cloned, that movie Independence Day came out, and The Wallflowers hit it big with the album Bringing Down the Horse. It's also when Taylor was growing significantly with the renewed popularity of acoustic guitar, perfecting their process and getting creative with woods. This particular guitar is a great example of that era, and represents their stellar craftmanship.

The Taylor 420 is a dreadnought-style acoustic guitar from the Taylor 400 series, and was produced from 1990 to 1997. You get a solid Sitka spruce top that's paired with a unique back and sides choice - it's pau ferro. You normally don't see acoustics like his. The result is vibrant, with full rich tones, a great balance and fantastic bass response. A great feature of Taylor guitars, from the begining, has been their extra comfortable necks and this is a perfect example. You will love the feel of this set mahogany neck that has a profile somewhat similar to an electric and it comes with a rosewood fingerboard.

Distinctly you get a pinless bridge with this older Taylor and compensated saddle for great intonation and sustain.
