Thorpy FX Special Run EAO Fuzz Pedal

As a longtime Thorpy FX dealer, we're excited to present a special run pedal - the EAO Fuzz.  It's a germanium fuzz pedal inspired by Adrian Thorpe's favorite vintage circuit, the Burns Buzzaround.

It's a massive sounding fuzz using three NOS Germanium PNP transistors, a NOS Germanium diode and an on-board transformer.  Around Christmas 2024, Thorpy FX built a handful of these hardwired and loved this circuit so much they had to put it into a standard Thorpy enclosure. 

What is EAO? EAO stands for Explodes All at Once, in short it's one of Adrian's favourite germanium circuits ever, the venerable Burns Buzzaround. It doesn't clean up, it's not subtle, it has a savagery far ahead of its time. they are instant plug in and grin pedals.

It sounds old, it sounds great.

CONTROL:
All of the controls are highly interactive, for example changes to bias, affect the sustain and vice versa.

FOOTSWITCH: ON/OFF True bypass

SUSTAIN: This changes the amount of long violin like sustain available to you as you ride every note and hold every chord.

TONE: This changes the fuzz tonality from thicker, bass heavy through to
searing and treble focussed.

VOLUME: This acts as a master volume, helping to balance the overall output especially when the bias and sustain knobs are positioned to maximise volume that would otherwise be uncontrollable.

BIAS: This fundamentally changes the character of the fuzz. You can move from thinner and spottier fuzz all the way through to a full-throated gain monster.

PLACEMENT: Because of the transformer, the EAO will sit comfortably
anywhere on your board. It will be a case of personal preference.

POWER: The EAO is designed to be powered by a 9V DC centre-negative
2.1mm power supply. Do not attempt to use this pedal with other voltages or 5 polarities. We have power protection circuitry in our pedals and use of any other voltages will shut the pedal down and may require return to ThorpyFx HQ for repair. This will not be covered under warranty.
